The students there have special needs. Or maybe education is your job. Or did you&#8230;enter the wrong room?Just kidding\uff01<\/p>\n<p>I asked this question because it\u2019s a concern I\u2019ve heard on many parent-child education forums: \u201cWhat makes me qualified to share anything? My children are not successful. They have no chance to be the next Harvard genius or Stanford star student. What I say isn\u2019t important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u5728\u5206\u4eab\u524d\uff0c\u6211\u8981\u7d66\u5927\u5bb6\u4e00\u500b\u601d\u8003\u984c\uff1a\u4f60\u8a8d\u70ba\u81ea\u5df1\u6709\u8cc7\u683c\u4ee3\u8868\u4f60\u7684\u55ae\u4f4d\u6216\u662f\u4f60\u7684\u5b69\u5b50\u4f86\u9019\u88e1\u55ce?\u6709\uff01\u70ba\u4ec0\u9ebc\uff1f\u2026\u2026\u56e0\u70ba\u6211\u5011\u662f\u4f86\u5b78\u7fd2\u7684\u3002\u975e\u5e38\u597d\u7684\u7b54\u6848\uff01\u6211\u4e5f\u6642\u5e38\u9762\u5c0d\u76f8\u985e\u8cea\u7591\uff0c\u8fd1\u5e74\uff0c\u6211\u7d93\u5e38\u4ee3\u8868\u6fb3\u9580\u53c3\u52a0\u89aa\u5b50\u6559\u80b2\u8ad6\u58c7\uff0c\u6211\u8eab\u908a\u7684\u670b\u53cb\u6703\u554f\uff1a<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u5982\u679c\u6211\u5011\u7684\u5b69\u5b50\u7121\u6cd5\u6210\u624d\uff0c\u5982\uff1a\u7121\u6cd5\u6210\u70ba\u4e00\u500b\u54c8\u4f5b\u5973\u5b69\u6216\u662f\u53f2\u4e39\u798f\u7537\u5b69\uff0c\u90a3\u6211\u5011\u6191\u4ec0\u9ebc\u53bb\u5206\u4eab\uff1f\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>PPT4<\/p>\n<p>This kind of self-doubt stems from the traditional ways we define success. What does it mean to be successful? Are we only successful if our children attend the most famous universities? Should we adopt other people\u2019s successful parenting methods? What are we really trying to learn in parent-child education?<\/p>\n<p>I am an author. Therefore, I MUST be an expert in parent-child education. But I have something to share: I didn\u2019t bring up \u201csuccessful children\u201d as defined by traditional standards. And when we share our knowledge with our unique voice, a magical thing happens: we accept new thoughts, we rethink the knowledge we have, we connect and learn from each other, and we go through a process of self-improvement. Like a little caterpillar shedding a cocoon, we go through change and come out of knowledge sharing, a beautiful butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>In the field of special education, you face even more challenges and questions. The society has placed labels on children with special needs. These labels make it so hard for us to see our own values. My students are all unique and beautiful in their own way, and as educators, we need to remove the labels that society has put on them. They are not difficult, challenging, and troublesome. They are unique, authentic, and beautiful. They deserve to learn and feel important. I have been volunteering in Macau I Can Too Association ,Through reading, storytelling, and learning communication skills, our goal is to allow students with special needs to find their own voice in this world today.Before my first class, I was warned: teaching these students are difficult, it\u2019ll be challenging, they won\u2019t listen to you. So when I walked into the classroom on my first day, I was a little hesitant and worried that I wouldn\u2019t be a good teacher. But what I found, surprised me.<\/p>\n<p>Not only were the students very easy to get along with, every one of them has their own strengths. One of them has a powerful memory and can tell me facts that I don\u2019t even know. They said it was because I encouraged the students all the time and I showed appreciation for their work.<\/p>\n<p>I want to share a funny story with you about my time with them. For one of the classes, we decided to create a pen name for ourselves. My personal pen name was Teacher Sheep-Pig, so I encouraged them to choose something that they liked. So we have, Pig, Cat, Baby. Next, I asked them if they were big or small. They are confident! Between big and small, they were confident that they were big! We can see that they have a positive sense of self-worth. Psychology told us that our self-identity is important. People who know their self-identity are more authentic, happier, and content. They have more self confidence and have the right mindset to tackle adversity.<\/p>\n<p>As an educator, I want to prove people&#8217;s abilities, because even someone who can only speak one word at a time can tell a story. If I can encourage them to be even a little better, then this is worth it for me.
